Flowerpower was established in January 2002 by Gillian Street. Gillian is a qualified teacher and florist with NDSF qualifications and has worked in the industry for more than 35 years. She started her career at Edward Goodyear an old established flower shop which holds royal warrants including one for her Majesty The Queen. Edward Goodyear was based in Claridges Hotel Mayfair and it was here that Gillian gained unrivalled experience in event and personal floristry working on flowers for state banquets, celebrity weddings and parties and personal flowers for the Queen as well as gift, wedding and funeral flowers for the local clientele.
After10 years working in London Gillian left her post as head florist to have her family but still retained her connection to the industry by teaching evening classes at her local college two nights a week.
When the children were older Gillian returned to work as head florist at the prestigious garden centre Vanhage in Ware, where she worked for 4 years before deciding to start her own venture.
Flowerpower was created to bring a little bit of London style to the high street of Stevenage Old Town and offers innovative designs for all occasions. The flower shop soon became successful and in October 2010 Gillian and her husband Alan, a qualified horticulturalist, added a lovely little coffee shop.
