Flowerpower was established in January 2001,
by Gillian Street. Gillian has worked as a florist
for over 24 years. She is a qualified florist
with NDSF and teaching qualifications.
Her career started at the court florists Edward
Goodyear, the royal florists based in the famous
Claridges hotel in Mayfair. She gained invaluable
experience as a London florist, before
becoming head florist.
Gillian was managing a team of 20 florists and
was personally responsible for all the flowers
in Buckingham Palace. She also oversaw the flowers
for many banquets and VIP functions. It was
an everyday occurrence to serve the rich and famous
and kings and queens through the shop.
After a short break to have children, Gillian
worked as head florist at the prestigious garden
centre Vanhage in Ware, where she worked for 4
years before deciding to start her own venture.
Flowerpower was created with a view to offer innovative,
stylish floral design to the high street.
(A little bit of London style without the price)
Following the success of the Stevenage old town
shop, Gillian & her husband Alan, who is a
qualified horticulturalist decided to branch out
and have opened a further shop in Staples garden
centre, nr Ampthill. This specialises in a fantastic
range of modern plants as well as all floristry
services.
The shops now employ up to 8 florists who are
all trained in floristry.
The shops are very modern and turn the traditional
florist shop on its head. There are always Aqua
packed Hand-tieds' ready to go'.
A fantastic range of modern funky houseplants
and lots of nice gift ideas.
We can create anything you want just ask.
